Study Inn Group, the luxury hotel-style student accommodation owner, developer, and operator, is set to open its latest building in Exeter in September 2021.
The £25m development is located on the site of the former BBC studios in Walnut Gardens, St David’s Hill in the heart of the city, just a 15-minute walk from the University of Exeter.
The property will provide 167 rooms in a mix of well-designed studios and shared serviced apartment bedrooms.
The private self-contained studios have a bespoke design and include en-suite shower room; fully fitted kitchenette with all kitchen and bedroom essentials; and smart TV.
Each shared serviced apartment bedroom comes with its own en-suite shower room and benefits from shared use of a fully equipped communal kitchen and lounge area. The kitchen is furnished with a private fridge/freezer and personal secure storage for each individual resident and state-of-the-art appliances including a dishwasher, induction hob/oven, microwave, Nespresso machine, Nutri-Bullet blender, rice cooker, wine chiller and breakfast table/bar. The lounge area is equipped with sofas, large smart TV, and a variety of console games.
The main communal facilities include a wellness spa with sauna; steam room; hot beds; gym and yoga studio; games room; lounge; meeting space; and a cinema room. The landscaping scheme incorporates its own private gardens, providing a wealth of secure outdoor green space.
Study Inn runs a regular programme of social and virtual events throughout the year with planned and un-planned opportunities for interaction amongst residents. Residents also benefit from value-added services at no additional cost, including regular room cleaning; bed linen and towel replacement; superfast wifi throughout the building; parcel collection; postal delivery to each room; 24/7 on-site management; and pastoral care so that residents can enjoy the life experience of their university years.
Study Inn Group has focused on resident wellbeing since its inception and its platforms’ latest generation of properties re-affirms the Group’s deep-rooted focus on student wellbeing and life experience.
Study Inn’s founding director Hannah Jefferson-Bott says: “We came from a hospitality background and have 15 years’ experience of designing, constructing, and operating serviced student accommodation. We listen to our guests and recognise that their selection of university and their accommodation is a mix of academic and lifestyle choices. Both are important, and these choices are complementary rather than conflicting. Having made their academic choice of city, university and course, the focus switches very quickly to being able to mix with other like-minded people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures in a safe, secure high-quality environment which promotes interaction, not only in-house but with the city that they are in. We have been successful in providing those opportunities and continually improve on what we do.”
Who are Study Inn Group?
Coming from a hotel background, Study Inn built its first student property in 2006 and created the Study Inn brand in 2009, to provide customer focused high-quality bespoke accommodation in city centres.
The group has created a portfolio of well designed, well located and well managed student properties in the university cities of Coventry, Nottingham, Sheffield, Cambridge, Bristol, Loughborough and Nottingham, with Exeter coming on stream in September 2021. Senior management forges good working relationships with the universities in these cities irrespective of whether there are any commercial relationships with the university.
Study Inn’s development capacity has been increased and further pipeline projects have been secured in Leicester and Leeds, opening in 2022 and 2023.
The Group will continue to build portfolio properties with a clear focus on providing the best lifestyle experience for their guests.
