IFSEC is launching several new features and revamping some existing favourites for its 2017 edition. The security industry is evolving fast in terms of technology (eg the rise of IP, cyber security and the internet of things), the threat landscape (eg growing terror and cyber threats) and how the supply chain does business. Based on the needs of a changing audience, IFSEC is introducing new services, technologies, seminar theatres and show areas to enhance the experience in 2017 and cater to the entire supply chain, in the UK and internationally. Here are five of the brand new, or revamped, features for 2017.
1. Borders and Infrastructure Expo
Long the go-to event for security installers, IFSEC International has been adapting to its increasingly diverse visitor demographic for several years now. That is why 2017 marks the launch of Borders & Infrastructure Expo. Catering to senior security professionals from government, utilities, transport, logistics, sports stadia and events, and border control and law enforcement, Borders & Infrastructure will provide solutions and education around counter terror, border security and the protection of critical national infrastructure.
This brand new event within IFSEC 2017 will host leading suppliers of innovative solutions in cyber, perimeter, UAVs, surveillance and other cutting-edge technologies. The expo will also feature an exclusive meeting service to pair high value buyers with exhibitors, as well as a dedicated seminar theatre tackling security trends, pitfalls and best practice for high-security sectors of critical national importance.
2. The Drone Zone
Officially launched at IFSEC 2016, the Drone Zone will return to ExCeL London bigger, better and now more appropriately housed, centre stage, within Borders & Infrastructure Expo. Whether you want to find out more about the diverse uses of drones in aiding your security strategy, are looking to protect your organisation against drones, or simply want to see this incredible technology in action, the Drone Zone will provide some compelling aerial theatre in the heart of IFSEC.
You’ll have the chance to speak to experts from leading drone manufacturers and, of course, see them in action, flying above your head within ExCel London.
3. Free Meeting Service
To ensure IFSEC International continues to be a place to do business for the international security industry – and is not seen as just another trade show – the 1 to 1 meeting service has been revamped for 2017.
Acting as matchmaker, the service gets you face time with exhibitors who can help you secure the solutions you need. Use the meetings service to pre-book your meetings ahead of your visit – a vast improvement on the traditional exhibition format, where you’re left hovering, frustrated, for the crowds to clear on an exhibitor’s stand.
This free service guarantees meetings with the people you want to meet, along with the chance to capitalise on thousands of in-show special offers and pricing deals IFSEC is known for. You can then spend the rest of your time learning best practice in any of the four theatres, or networking at the bar.
4. Exclusive Discount Programme
Exhibitors offering discounts at IFSEC International really isn’t anything that new, but this year the show has formalised the process by encouraging exhibitors to sign up to an official programme. There are currently 23 security exhibitors involved and counting, plus a further 32 across fire, facilities and safety and health.
Discounts available range from 10% to a huge 30%, as well as a range of other incentives such as free risk assessments or software licenses, and are all available exclusively on the IFSEC show floor. The 23 exhibitors already involved cover a broad range of products including access control, CCTV, monitoring and intruder alarms.
With many arguing that they simply can’t afford a day out of the office to attend exhibitions and conferences, IFSEC’s new discount programme ensures you’re able to generate tangible ROI on your visit.
5. Professor Brian Cox OBE!
OK, so not exactly a ‘feature’ or representative of a ‘revamp’, but securing Professor Brian Cox OBE as one of 2017’s keynotes is a major coup. The eminent physicist, presenter of the BBC’s The Wonders Of… series and prolific scientific writer topped a recent poll of preferred keynote speakers among the audience of IFSEC and Protection & Management event series by a wide margin.
Challenging any perception of physicists as socially awkward, badly dressed nerds, he was, somewhat incongruously, also a keyboard player for bands D:Ream and Dare in the 1990s and has become something of a pin-up. What’s more, he’ll be joined on IFSEC 2017’s keynote line-up by Dame Kelly Holmes and Simon Weston CBE. IFSEC International is held in ExCeL, London, 20 – 22 June 2017.
