In today’s world the pace of change moves quickly, and it will only get quicker. The development of fresh ideas, creating new opportunities and better ways of doing things is essential for business success.
Innovation will be the theme of the CUBO Winter Conference in November. The current generation of students has grown up in a world of continuous innovation. Fast-paced change and development is their norm. Commercial HE must take note and innovate in order to retain the students of today and attract the students of tomorrow.
CUBO has joined up with some highly innovative people and companies to create an inspiring winter conference programme. The conference will take delegates on a journey of discovery. Starting by examining the fundamental question of what is innovation? It will consider innovation in change and innovation in performance and how it can benefit our businesses.
The first keynote speaker, Kevin Parr of the PGS Team, has an impressive track record as a top-flight sales and marketing maverick. He specialises as a motivational facilitator and business coach helping to build and drive innovative business development strategies.
Esteemed British brand and successful innovator Land Rover Jaguar, will speak about innovation in performance. The Land Rover Jaguar brands have continually evolved to maintain their place in the market. The company prides itself on innovation that revolutionises the everyday – there are many lessons to learn from looking at the everyday in HE and how we can do it better.
The Big Brand debate on the conference programme will tackle the contentious question: Are high-street food and beverage retailers really that much better than University brands? Chaired by brand and marketing expert Giles Poyner, the panel will debate the pros and cons of big brands and what the students of tomorrow want – is it big brands or small and local? How can we innovate to keep pace?
To end the conference on a high, Robbie Bargh of the Gorgeous Group promises to entertain delegates with a passionate and forwarding-thinking glimpse into “inventing the next big thing.” Robbie has run some of the best hotel and stand-alone restaurants and bars in London, New York, and Sydney. He is known for being a visionary and challenging norms. People talk about ‘being ahead of the curve’, Robbie Bargh appears so far ahead of it that he is round the corner and out of sight! Robbie’s session will help delegates to consider fresh ideas around how HE might go about inventing “the next big thing” on a commercial basis.
Taking the time out to consider the next big thing is essential for senior managers in commercial HE. How will you respond to the ever-changing needs of students? With increasing demands on the sector to innovate and find new streams of income, this event is part of a continuing programme of CUBO events designed to develop and inspire those working in commercial HE.
