This year’s UK and Ireland Green Gown Awards’ finalists, representing over one million students and 162,000 staff, are leading the way with their commitment to the global sustainability agenda and proving the value that universities and colleges bring to the economy and society. The finalists emphasise an institution’s role in enabling and empowering young people to tackle the climate emergency we are facing to ensure they have a better tomorrow.
Between the finalists, the projects touch on every department and permeate across the whole curriculum. They are conducted by students, staff, academics, teams and external stakeholders. These initiatives are a shining example of the power education possesses and the seriousness with which it takes its responsibility in creating a better world and a new generation of leaders.
We are excited to hold the awards ceremony in Glasgow, which has committed to being the first UK net-zero city in alignment with Scotland’s 2045 target. To be held at Glasgow Science Centre on 26 November 2019, the awards ceremony will recognise sustainability best practice within the further and higher education sectors. The awards provide the sector with benchmarks for excellence and are respected by governments, funding councils, senior management, academics and students.
A huge congratulations from everyone at the EAUC, our judges and the awards steering group. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 26 November 2019. Tickets available now (early bird tickets until 11 September).
