ASRA 2016

ASRA Vice-chair Mike Ball talks about the upcoming annual conference and exhibition in Belfast

Student satisfaction is often closely linked to the experience students have during their time in the accommodation they choose or are allocated. Being able to benchmark services is key to enabling institutional accommodation services or private providers to continue to offer high levels of customer service to students at universities and colleges throughout the UK and Ireland.

Association for Student Residential Accommodation (ASRA) continues to develop what is recognised as the ‘Largest Student Accommodation Conference’ in the UK and Ireland and also breaks new ground this year in hosting the 2016 conference in Northern Ireland for the first time. Delegates will have the opportunity to take part in over 40 training sessions, covering all areas of student accommodation management, including legal advisory updates, residence life development, mental health advisory sessions, student money matters, customer service and many supplier showcase sessions.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to meet over 50 industry suppliers at the exhibition supporting the event, including companies providing furniture and beds, insurance services, building management services, soft furnishing, technology support systems, launderette services, student equipment and student advisory services.

Networking with colleagues old and new is an important feature of our conference planning to make sure delegates have the opportunity to sound out new initiatives, or just take advice from experienced practitioners who are likely to have seen and done most things before. We also embrace new members and hopefully help them to integrate into our expanding family.

The formal opening of the conference will be followed by this year’s keynote speaker, David Meade, who is a broadcaster and motivational speaker with a very high local and national reputation.

The Association continues to develop and embrace all accommodation providers in halls-style accommodation whilst also keeping colleagues working in the PRS shared housing sector updated with the chance to discuss and review methods of maintaining and raising standards in all sectors of student accommodation. The ASRA Conference delivers exceptional opportunities for all accommodation providers and those working in university support services the chance to share experience, update on new initiatives and take a view on where their delivery of service stands against others in the sector. Staff new to the sector will be fascinated with the availability of shared experience and seasoned colleagues will always come away from the event with something to add to their tried and trusted service delivery.
