Universities across the UK have been ranked according to entry standards, student satisfaction, research assessment and graduate prospects, with results announced today by the Complete University Guide.
The list is again topped by Cambridge, with Oxford and the London School of Economics retaining second and third place.
The top ten is completed by St Andrews, Durham, Imperial College London, Warwick, Bath, University College London and Exeter.
Subject leaders included Bath for architecture, Durham for history, Nottingham for veterinary science, Lancaster for marketing and Warwick for American studies.
The biggest league risers were the University for the Creative Arts (rising 24 places from 86th to 62nd). Abertay rose by 20 places to 91st,Arts University Bournemouth rose by 18 places to 57th and the University of Derby rose 16 places to 87th.
