In the UK, Global Student Accommodation will be launching four new state-of-the-art residences for the 2019/2020 academic year, all of which will be operated by its award-winning brand, The Student Housing Company. These include two residences in Bournemouth totalling 953 beds, a 312-bed development in Cambridge, and a 219-bed residence in Exeter. For each new property, show flats are now open for viewings.
Across the new properties, students can expect residences tailored to their needs and situated in prime locations close to their local universities. The Student Housing Company has developed sector-leading policies and activities aimed to improve and maintain student wellbeing, and all these new properties are designed to provide a sense of community, security and wellness.
Residents will have access to an outstanding range of communal spaces including extensive common rooms and facilities including gyms, TV rooms, a social kitchen, study rooms and open-plan study areas.
The two developments will bring 950 additional student rooms to Bournemouth, and these are situated in prime locations with excellent transport links to both Bournemouth University, Bournemouth Arts University and local amenities.
Bailey Point, Lansdowne Road
Upon completion, the £31m Bailey Point will be a landmark high-rise building on a site previously occupied by a Bournemouth University building and car park. The development will house 550 students in a combination of four- to eight-bed apartments and studios, and will offer access to a stunning sky lounge. As part of the works, highway improvements are also being undertaken.
Belaton House, Holdenhurst Road
Constructed on land that was underutilised and included a retail store, the £23m Belaton House will provide 403 bedrooms, in a combination of three- to eight-bed apartments, ‘twodios’ and studios.
The Student Housing Company has invested £16m in the residence, which will provide 219 student beds in a combination of high-quality studios and shared apartments complete with en-suite rooms. All flats are being fitted with expansive glazing to maximise natural light and, for the first time, the multi-award-winning operator will be offering loft apartment options to students. The site will also include extensive outdoor space in the form of two courtyards.
Ideally located within walking distance of the university campus and city centre, Clifford House’s elevated position offers exceptional views across Exeter and beyond. The development is part of a wider regeneration project within the St James Ward, which includes upgrades to the Exeter City Football Stadium, St James Park.
The residence will provide 312 student beds in a combination of high-quality studios and shared apartments, complete with en suite rooms.
All bedrooms have been designed to maximise space and incorporate specialist lighting technology to aid wellbeing. Students will also benefit from extra-large, bespoke shower trays and high-specification kitchens, complete with quartz worktops and dining tables.
