New research leader for Brighton

The University of Brighton has appointed a new Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Enterprise

Professor Tara Dean, currently at the University of Portsmouth, is scheduled to take up her new post on 15 August.

Prof Dean was instrumental in establishing the internationally-recognised Asthma and Allergy Research Centre on the Isle of Wight. She joined Portsmouth in 2000 and became Chair in Health Sciences in 2007.  She has raised over £12m for her research, has published over 100 journal articles, and was shortlisted for Mentor of the Year award at the Women of the Future Awards, 2015.

Professor Dean said: “There are many areas of excellence in both research and enterprise within the university, and I am looking forward to working with new colleagues to strengthen and develop these further.”
