New research facility opens at Nottingham Trent University

NTU introduces new Future Factory Research and Consultancy Centre to develop innovative technologies

Nottingham Trent University‘s new facility brings innovative research, multidisciplinary expertise and state-of-the-art equipment together to form one creative environment. It has been created following a £250,000 refurbishment within the Maudslay building on its city site.

From developing world-class technology, including surgical robots, robotic arms, 3D printing and virtual reality, to helping companies cut down on their energy costs, the centre works with businesses and organisations on collaborative projects around smart design, manufacturing and innovative technologies.

The Future Factory Research and Consultancy Centre provides the university with a dedicated world-class, life-changing research and development facility

Representatives from local business organisations are invited to the launch event to discover how they can work with experts at the centre.  A series of interactive sessions will explore topics such as smart technologies and materials; the development of sustainable products, systems and buildings; and renewable energy systems.

Peter Ramsay-Dawber, Acting Dean of the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment, said: “The Future Factory Research and Consultancy Centre provides the university with a dedicated world-class, life-changing research and development facility.

“One of the aims of our ‘Creating the University of the Future’ strategy is ‘Valuing Ideas’ and the university’s investment in this exciting new centre will help us achieve this ambition through our research excellence and the development of the next generation of researchers.

“We are already working in partnership with major organisations such as the multinational food and drink company, PepsiCo, and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, and we are looking forward to working with many more businesses in the future.”
