New Pro VC for Bucks New Uni

Professor Tim Middleton has been appointed as Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Enterprise at Buckinghamshire New University

Professor Middleton is currently the Vice Provost, Research & Enterprise at Bath Spa University where he has held senior roles since February 2001.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining Bucks New University which has an impressive record of work in research and enterprise. The recognition of its growing volume of world leading and internationally excellent research outputs in REF 2014 creates a strong basis for its future success.

“Research and Enterprise work is also a key way that a university engages with society beyond the campus. The University’s strong focus on practice based and applied research and related enterprise activity mean it is well placed to support business and the community in tackling pressing issues requiring innovative solutions.

“When I visited the Bucks campus I was struck by the sense of a vibrant well-connected and creative community with a welcoming collegial atmosphere. I am really looking forward to working with the whole Bucks community to develop its work in Research & Enterprise to the benefit of students, staff and stakeholders.”

Prof Middleton graduated from the University of Kent with an English and American Literature degree. He completed both his MA and PhD in English Literature at the University of Warwick.

He was an English Literature lecturer in higher education institutions before joining Bath Spa University as Head of School, English and Creative Studies in 2001. He was appointed Dean of International Relations in 2010 and promoted to Vice Provost, Research and Graduate Affairs in 2012. His remit was expanded to include research and enterprise in 2014.

Prof Middleton starts his new role at Bucks New University on 1 September.
