This will be the final event of the Inspired Huddersfield 2016 programme.
Open for Business, an informal event to be held at the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre, will illustrate how the University can engage with a business and help it to grow. This can be in the form of consultancy, collaborative research, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs), bespoke training courses and student placements and projects.
Businesses who have engaged with the University will perform individual presentations about their experiences of working with the institution and the benefits involved. They will tell their stories; how projects are initiated, scoped and implemented and what funding is available to support business to deliver innovation. The impact and longer-term benefits of working with the University will also be demonstrated.
Confirmed speakers include representatives from Weir Group Plc, South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, National Physical Laboratory (NPL) and also Paxman Coolers Ltd, who have gone on to win numerous awards since their collaboration with the University.
Later in the evening, there will be the opportunity to network amongst the business representatives and other delegates and University representatives will also be on hand to answer questions.
Laura Forester-Green, who is co-organising the event, says she wants to encourage the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to attend, as well as the larger ones. “The event will give organisations, of all sizes, from all sectors, the opportunity to engage with the University and have their queries answered by businesses that have already had experience of working with us,” said Laura.
This event is happening as the University nears its 100th KTP and this growing roster of research projects has propelled the University of Huddersfield into the UK Top Ten for operating Government-backed Knowledge Transfer Partnerships.
Open for Business is on Wednesday 22 June from 4.30pm to 7pm.
