On taking up the post, Professor Bhattacharya said: “I am looking forward to working with an extraordinarily talented group of colleagues to deliver outstanding teaching and research which has a real impact on the health and wellbeing of people in Wales and beyond.

Formerly Professor of Reproductive Medicine and Director of the Institute of Applied Health Sciences at the University of Aberdeen, Professor Bhattacharya’s major research interest is in the field of reproductive epidemiology and evaluation of interventions in reproductive medicine, particularly infertility.
Chief investigator in a portfolio of reproductive health trials, Professor Bhattacharya serves on several national and international committees relating to reproductive medicine. He also has extensive experience of teaching and programme development for undergraduate and postgraduate medical curricula.
