The academic dean steps up in the new academic year to replace Professor Andrew Brewerton

Plymouth College of Art has appointed Professor Paul Fieldsend-Danks as interim principal and chief executive

Professor Paul Fieldsend-Danks will assume his new role in the 2021/22 academic year, replacing Professor Andrew Brewerton, who is to retire after 11 years at Plymouth College of Art.

Fieldsend-Danks is currently associate professor and academic dean with strategic academic leadership of the specialist higher education provider’s School of Arts & Media, School of Design & Communication and School of Critical & Cultural Studies, and he has led the college’s undergraduate, postgraduate and further education portfolios.

Before joining Plymouth College of Art in 2016, Fieldsend-Danks held senior academic roles at Norwich University of the Arts and the University of Bath/Swindon College School of Art & Design. He began his university career lecturing in fine art at Oxford Brookes University. He is also a fellow of the Royal Society for Arts (RSA) and a senior fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
