Imperial College London is the second provider in the capital to join the group this week

London Higher has welcomed Imperial College London as its newest member.

The membership organisation for higher education in London today announced that Imperial College London has officially joined its mission to strengthen collaboration with business, academia, healthcare and government bodies across the capital, the country and internationally.

“London is a global centre for discovery and education, and universities such as Imperial play a crucial role in enhancing the capital’s reputation for business, research and innovation,” said Professor Alice Gast, President of Imperial College London.

“Imperial’s collaborations, discoveries and networks are transforming lives and creating opportunity both here in our local communities and across the world.

“London Higher provides an important and influential voice as we work with local, national and international stakeholders to realise our mission to benefit society through enduring excellence in research and education in science.”

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) had also joined London Higher’s ranks, joining other specialist arts providers such as the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Art.

Dr Diana Beech, London Higher‘s chief executive officer, welcomed Imperial College, saying “The institution brings with it world-leading expertise in medicine, science and business, alongside deep-rooted links within London’s local communities, and will be a valuable member of our vibrant networks as we begin the new year.

“While it has been a difficult time for the sector and our city, we know higher education institutions will be central to recovery – from educating tomorrow’s workforce to realising the government’s ‘science superpower’ ambitions – and we look forward to working with Imperial College London to strengthen the voice of London’s higher education sector.”
