Hertfordshire Uni signs three year agreement with Santander

The partnership with Santander Universities UK was signed at the Hertfordshire institution’s Law Court building last month

Matt Hutnell, Director of Santander Universities UK, has signed the third three-year partnership agreement between his organisation and the University of Hertfordshire.

Professor Quintin McKellar CBE, Vice-Chancellor at the University of Hertfordshire, said: “We’re delighted that Santander Universities UK has chosen to support our students for another three years. Funding will go towards projects in enterprise, research, study abroad, SME internships, and international scholarships, and we look forward to growing and nurturing our relationship over the coming years.”

The new agreement, which runs to January 2020, will provide £55,000 of funding to the University each year. This will contribute towards international scholarships, the University’s study abroad scheme, research funding, international internships, support for the University’s Enterprise programme (including the annual Flare awards) and UH Racing – the University’s Formula Student Racing team.

Chris Day, a University of Hertfordshire alumnus and founder and Managing Director of Daymedia, utilized the Santander Universities SME Internship Scheme to employ an intern. He says, As a growing SME, we have hired four interns over the course of the last three years. Not only has this scheme helped the students to gain real world experience and boost their skills, it has also helped us deliver projects more efficiently, and bring fresh ideas into our team. We will always be keen to take advantage of this scheme, and hope to offer graduate positions to some of our interns in the near future.”
