The announcement was made during the traditional topping out ceremony which marks the completion of the highest point of the building. The £31m property, situated in an area which has seen significant regeneration, will open its doors in September 2016 to 699 Middlesex University Students.
Located a short walking distance from Wembley Park station, the property offers easy access to Central London and Middlesex’s London campus. Students will enjoy en-suite shared flats, high speed Wi-Fi, energy efficient LED lighting, communal spaces designed to enhance students’ living and learning experience as well as breath-taking views of the iconic Wembley Stadium.
Richard Smith, Unite Students Managing Director – Operations, commented: “This marks an important milestone for our Wembley project. We’re delighted to be working with Middlesex University who are a forward thinking and global institution. The University has real international appeal but it also has a genuine sense of community and a rich North London history.
We are committed to providing a ‘Home for Success’ – enabling students to achieve more from their time at university
“This partnership will ensure that we provide Middlesex University students with high-quality accommodation and specialist residential management services which will allow the University to focus more of their resources on teaching and research. The students who move into Olympic Way from September will enjoy the latest in facilities, comfort and convenience. But living with Unite Students isn’t just about buildings. We are committed to providing a ‘Home for Success’ – enabling students to achieve more from their time at university. That could mean academic achievement, personal growth or preparation for the world of work.”
Andrew Dickie, Middlesex University Director of Estates and Facilities Management Service added: “At Middlesex University we put students at the centre of everything that we do. Students often speak to us about accommodation so we are investing in this area as we strive to enhance the student experience in this iconic city.
‘We’re pleased to be working in partnership with Unite Students to provide more accommodation for students as well as employment opportunities for Middlesex students in the Wembley area. Waking up to spectacular views over Wembley Stadium is yet another compelling reason for students to come and study here at Middlesex University.”
From start to completion the development project will have taken 93 weeks to complete. The property itself comprises an 18 storey linear student accommodation block with two projecting retail blocks, raised gardens and terraces at the lower levels with ground floor courtyards and public spaces.
