Tight timeframes

Garry Bateman from Forbo Flooring Systems offers his top tips on making the most effective use of the holiday season

Q: There never seems to be enough time in the holidays to complete all the planned refurbishment jobs. How can I maximise the number of flooring projects that we can complete within this fixed window?

A: These tight timeframes can be challenging but there are five effective actions possible to maximise the number of potential flooring projects: Start with sourcing all your flooring and adhesives from one supplier – just one delivery will save time. Forbo offers a single supply option for carpet tiles, sheet vinyl, safety vinyl, Linoleum, flocked flooring and entrance systems making it easy to find all the floor coverings you’re likely to need in a university.

Modular products are quicker and easier to fit than sheet and with tile versions of resilient flooring, entrance systems and carpet tiles available, most functional requirements can be met by modular products.

Time can also be saved by fitting products with the same adhesive. Tessera’s carpet tiles, Allura Flex vinyl tiles, Flotex tiles and Coral entrance tiles are all fitted using tackifer adhesive to help speed up the installation.

Using non-directional carpet tiles such as Forbo’s Tessera Mix or Contour. As there are no directional arrows to follow, these products are much quicker to fit and cause less waste.

Finally, consider manufacturers’ service propositions. For example the Forbo Direct service* guarantees delivery of up to 500m² of a range of products within five working days, allowing you longer on the decision-making process knowing the flooring will be delivered quickly once ordered.

Hopefully, these tips will enable you to make the most effective use of the holiday season. For further technical advice, please email [email protected] or visit www.forbo-flooring.co.uk/education
