Smarter buying remains a hot topic across the higher education (HE) sector with universities under increased scrutiny to demonstrate value for money as a result of their procurement and buying decisions.
As a national procurement and membership organisation, Fusion21 supports universities, HE providers and other public sector businesses to procure across the built environment and deliver on social impact and sustainability goals.
From expansions to carrying out renovations, investing in new world-class facilities or keeping on top of general management, we understand the maintenance and development of your university campus is a continuous cycle.
At Fusion21, we offer a range of fully compliant built environment frameworks – providing a quick route to market while generating efficiencies, increasing productivity in the procurement process and maximising value across university estates.
Our technical procurement experts give the right knowledge and guidance when you need it, hold Chartered Institute of Procurement (CIPS) qualifications and ensure contracts are mobilised on-site quickly.
Wherever your university is situated, we provide flexibility in terms of location, service support and call-off options, and our rigorously accessed supply chain (from larger contractors to SMEs) is continuously monitored and managed to the highest quality standards.
We’re proud to be a social enterprise and, to date, we’ve saved our members more than £226m through the procurement process and generated more than £84m of social impact – ensuring our members benefit from more than just efficiencies on procurement spend.
Fully compliant with the Public Services (Social Value Act) 2012, we support working with SMEs to boost local economies and we align social value delivery to your organisational priorities.
Helping you ‘Make a Real Impact’
With a strong track record, our variety of commercially efficient procurement services include modular buildings, expansion of estates, total facilities management and estates management services, plus regeneration programmes, modernisation and upgrade works.
Many of our frameworks have education specific lots, and we offer a range of sustainable technologies to help your campus achieve energy efficiency outcomes including reduced carbon emissions and increased cost savings. Select from technologies such as the design, maintenance and installation of solar photovoltaic systems, battery storage, electric vehicle charging, LED lighting, cladding replacement and external wall insulation.
Or, if you’re seeking to procure a range of heating services, our new Heating and Renewables Framework features several lots including one supported by the Department for Education. Our lots provide solutions for consultancy, quality assurance, design, service, maintenance and installation options for all fuel types including renewable technology.
We’re busy working on a host of active projects within higher education from feasibility studies to the delivery of temporary and permanent contemporary modular building solutions, ideal for expanding campus facilities and catering for a growing student population. Completed works have included creating flexible teaching spaces featuring lecture suites, PC labs and quiet zones – accommodating up to 1,000 students.
To support with service streamlining, we procure Total FM service contracts for education providers such as cleaning, reactive maintenance and a variety of ground works, in addition to health and safety inspections, building condition surveys and delivering project management support.
The UK’s first energy positive Active Office on a university campus was procured through Fusion21, resulting in an architecturally designed, high performance building, which generates and stores more energy than it uses. This project integrated solar thermal and solar photovoltaic technology combined with battery storage, smart building sensors and electric vehicle charging points.
