RIBA: in praise of the client

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has announced the shortlist for RIBA Client of the Year

The annual award recognises the key role that a good client plays in the creation of fine architecture.  

The shortlist is: 

  • Arts Council Collection and Yorkshire Sculpture Park – nominated by Adam Khan Architects for the Sculpture Park’s RIBA Award-winning projects, the Seizure, Entrance Building and Underground Gallery.
  • Argent – nominated by David Chipperfield Architects for One Pancras Square, London and by Maccreanor Lavington for Saxon Court & Roseberry Mansions. Previous award-winning Argent schemes including Central St Martins, ‘1 Piccadilly Gardens’ Manchester and ‘Brindley Place’ Birmingham will also be considered by the award judges.
  • Manchester Metropolitan University nominated by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios for Manchester School of Art and MMU Business School. 

The winner of the RIBA Client of the Year Award will be announced at the RIBA Stirling Prize party on Thursday 16 October at RIBA in central London. The judges for the award are the RIBA Awards Group, chaired by Philip Gumuchdjian.
