Durham to open International Study Centre

Durham welcomes international students through its new Study Centre

Durham University will strengthen its global links with the opening of a new International Study Centre (ISC) in September.

The new centre, based at the University’s Queen’s Campus in Stockton-on-Tees, will welcome students from around the world to the North East.

The ISC will be home to non-EU students, preparing them for entry on to Durham University undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes at Durham City through the development of their language and study skills.

It will be managed by Study Group, a highly respected education provider with global experience in preparing international students for university study.

Recruitment of students to the Durham University ISC will begin shortly and the first intake will begin their studies in September 2017.

We believe that the pathway programmes offered at our new ISC are the best way to prepare students and ensure a smooth transition to our undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes in Durham City

Professor Stuart Corbridge, Vice-Chancellor of Durham University, said: “At Durham University we pride ourselves on the diversity of our community. 21% of our students are from outside the UK and there are 150 nationalities represented in our staff and student bodies.

“We value the contribution that our international students make to University life. We believe that the pathway programmes offered at our new ISC are the best way to prepare students and ensure a smooth transition to our undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes in Durham City.

“Creating the ISC at Queen’s Campus reaffirms our commitment to delivering high quality education at Stockton-on-Tees and Teesside. Students based at the campus have consistently expressed how much they enjoy a great student experience, describing it as a relaxed, convivial and supportive place with a ‘can do’ attitude. It is clear the campus and the wider surroundings are held in great affection by many, and that the local authority works hard to ensure that remains the case. Long may it continue.

“Study Group’s expertise in international education makes it the best partner to manage the Centre. We look forward to welcoming our first ISC students to Queen’s Campus in just a few months’ time.”
