When Was Your Partitioning Wall Last Serviced?

The lifespan of a moveable wall can be dramatically extended with routine servicing and timely repairs

Many educational establishments now benefit from one or more partitioning wall systems, delivering flexibility to available space by allowing smaller classrooms to be quickly created, as required.  As with any product, the lifespan of a moveable wall can be dramatically extended with routine servicing and timely repairs.  Partitioning experts Style recommends a service contract as the most cost-effective solution, helping ensure safe operation and maximum acoustic performance long into the future.

So, what should you be looking for when considering a service and maintenance provider?

You are not obliged to go with the aftercare service offered by the original manufacturer or installer; however, you need to ensure that the company you choose does have the authority and capability to maintain your system. Style, for example, is the sole UK supplier for both DORMA and Skyfold moveable walls and our engineers are the only ones in the UK currently qualified to maintain these systems in line with manufacturer recommendations.

Geographic location of the engineers will obviously determine how quickly you can expect a response to a breakdown, something that may be particularly important if a partitioning wall is integral to smooth operations. Check that the engineer will arrive in a well-stocked vehicle, making a first-time-fix much more likely.

Carefully inspect the small print to ensure any contract offers a full service rather than a just a ‘due diligence’ visual inspection which may not satisfy health and safety obligations. A comprehensive examination should include checking all seals are intact and fully operational, cleaning and lubrication of track and fixings, alignment of panels and tracking system as well as a full check of the motor and key switches, panel contacts and push buttons.

Style would usually advise a bi-annual inspection for fully automated systems but generally, the manufacturer’s recommendations should be sufficient to comply with current health and safety requirements.

With nearly 20 years’ experience in the design, installation and maintenance of moveable wall systems, Style offers a comprehensive aftercare service with a nationwide team of in-house trained engineers.
