Comedian Dominic Holland and Abbie Bates, Managing Editor of Group Travel Organiser magazine presented the award to the University of Kent team at a ceremony at London’s Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel this June.
The University of Kent has now won the award every year since 2008 and once again fought off stiff competition from the Universities of Cardiff, Durham, Essex, Leeds, Leicester and Jesus College Cambridge.
Readers of Group Travel Organiser magazine vote for the award.
Speaking after the ceremony Kevin Stuckey, Residences & Conferences Manager, said: “It’s absolutely terrific to win this award for the seventh consecutive year. We are so very grateful to our regular clients who continue to enjoy our facilities and support us year after year.
Continuous investment in our accommodation together with a fair pricing policy offering groups great value for money accommodation, are key reasons for our year-on-year success in attracting groups to the University. However, this outstanding achievement really is a great credit to our highly dedicated staff who work so hard across campus to maintain such consistent high standards – year after year’.
Set in 450 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds overlooking the historic city of Canterbury, the University offers over 4,500 rooms on campus, including 1,800 en-suite. The brand new Turing College is currently under construction.
This will offer a further 800 bedrooms which will be completed in September this year. These brand new facilities will be very important for future groups business, especially since over 500 bedrooms will be double rooms.
