Mobile Shelving for Cambridgeshire Archives
Rotadex has recently completed the supply and installation of over 10,000 metres of positive drive mobile shelving within a new BS4971:2017 archive facility at Ely to enable Cambridgeshire County Council to relocate its archives out of Shire Hall, Cambridge. To maximise the cubic space available, the mobile units are up to 10 metres long and 3 metres high, complete with perforated upright frames to permit airflow through the various stacks. The solution also included 45 x A0 plan chests, rolled map storage and veneer-clad library shelving for the Reading Room.
New Rotadex Fineline Mobile Shelving for Taunton Library
Taunton Library is the main library for Somerset and is part of Libraries West, the leading public library consortium in the UK. As part of a project at Taunton Library to re-assign space within the Library building, an 1150 linear metre book-stock area was moved to a new facility in Bridgwater. Following a competitive tender process to relocate existing mobile shelving and add new mobile shelving to achieve the required capacity within a reduced footprint a Bridgwater, Rotadex Systems Limited was awarded the contract.
The existing mobile shelving has been successfully relocated and reloaded, and a new system from the Rotadex Fineline shelving range installed alongside. All shelving bays are 300mm deep from front-to-back and all shelves 1200mm long. All shelves are adjustable on concealed shelf clips, and the system has been powder coated in RAL 9003 Signal White to aid the spread of light with the space.
Manufactured in Birmingham, Fineline mobile shelving is supplied with a laminate finished infill floor around the system tracks levelled to 1:1000 tolerance to ensure smooth operation. The shelving relocation project has been completed on-time and to the agreed budget, ensuring that the Libraries Centre has been able to move into the new building on schedule.
