Leak Detection added to PrefectIrus
The Prefect Leak detection system is designed to provide comprehensive coverage for mutable floor accommodation
Leaks can go unnoticed for lengthy periods of time. The first sign of a problem is when moisture seeps through plaster and into the walls of adjoining rooms or those below. By this time the leak could be weeks old and the damage extensive, meaning time-consuming and expensive repair work.
The Prefect Leak detection system is designed to provide comprehensive coverage for mutable floor accommodation, where pipe work, both hot and cold, is in abundance.
The system uses Prefect’s renowned Irus platform to provide real-time monitoring of all detection areas from ceiling and riser pipework to hot water storage.
The system affords several levels of protection, the first, to pre-empt minor leaks by monitoring humidity spikes and alerting maintenance and management to the possibility of a potential small or intermittent leak such as shower trays etc.
The second line of defence is to detect a major leak, alert and action a closure of the water supply to the floor – quickly limiting damage.
Finally, a full closure of the rising main from the basement, should the surrounding detectors activate.
In each case maintenance engineers or accommodation managers are alerted via an email or SMS notification. The system stores events so that management teams can track any recurring patterns.
Along with humidity and leak detection PrefectIrus provides room temperature and water heating control, CO2, sound and lux monitoring and the portal provides full control from anywhere in the world with internet connectivity.
