UWE wins global accommodation praise
UWE Bristol has been commended for the excellent standard of its accommodation in the 2014 National Student Housing Survey Awards
The University is one of only 11 universities to receive the International Accommodation Quality Mark, which recognises organisations achieving at least 90% satisfaction among international students. The University was also shortlisted in the category for Best Environmental Management.
The National Student Housing Survey (NSHS) is an annual survey of students in higher education across the UK conducted by independent experts, Red Brick Research. The survey measures satisfaction levels in all types of accommodation and allows participating institutions to measure their performance against national and regional benchmarks. The 2014 survey attracted around 19,000 responses from more than 200 universities and colleges across the UK.
Kate Tarr (Accommodation Services) co-ordinated and worked with the NSHS to ensure that all students were prompted to respond to their survey.

Achieving 90% satisfaction, is a huge acknowledgement of the dedication of the Accommodation staff at UWE Bristol who do their utmost to ensure that our student residents get the best service possible. We devote considerable resources to maintaining the properties, but ultimately students appreciate that staff are available 24/7 to help them when they have questions or problems.”
UWE Bristol’s commitment to providing high quality accommodation is underlined by a £13m project to create 441 new student bedrooms in a town house style development on Frenchay Campus.
Construction on Wallscourt Park Residences is well underway with the first 112 rooms being released for the September intake. The three and four-storey ‘town house’ student accommodation will have separate central security, reception and laundry hub. The accommodation will have shared shower rooms (1 per 2 bedrooms) providing an alternative to the predominantly en-suite accommodation elsewhere on the Campus.
This project is being managed by Capita and delivered by Interserve Construction Limited and is the first of a three phase development which will eventually provide around 1,200 bed spaces on Frenchay Campus. The project is part of the UWE Bristol Masterplan, the University’s vision to build a university for the 21st Century.
