The ultimate green cleaning system for universities

Facilities managers of universities across the UK are more aware than ever of how their decisions impact the environment

Facilities managers of universities across the UK are more aware than ever of how their decisions impact the environment. With a wider understanding of the detrimental effect that the purchasing of cleaning chemicals has on the environment and their staff, facilities managers are always on the lookout for ‘green’ alternatives.

Traditionally in cleaning numerous chemicals are used for treating different areas across the site and these products have a damaging effect on the environment, not only in the production phase but also the packaging and transportation that is required.

Toxins in cleaning chemicals can also be dangerous to both occupants and users of buildings and to cleaning staff.

Over the years, the cleaning industry has responded to the demand for ‘greener’ cleaning alternatives and common misconceptions that chemicals have to be used in order to achieve high cleaning standards have been proven otherwise.

One leading, green cleaning alternative is Stabilised Aqueous Ozone - a sanitiser that is 100% natural and 100% environmentally friendly.

Stabilised Aqueous Ozone is produced by a machine called the Tersano lotus® PRO which is exclusively distributed through Green World Innovations.

The lotus® PRO is installed onsite with a power and water feed connected. The machine then infuses ordinary tap water with a stabiliser creating Stabilised Aqueous Ozone that cleaning staff can dispense into spray bottles, buckets or ride on cleaning machines.

The sanitiser can then be used to clean any surface including floors, kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and offices. After four hours, the infused water turns back into ordinary tap water again and can be poured away, without contaminating the environment.

Already adopted by hotel chains, fast food restaurants and hospitals, Stabilised Aqueous Ozone, reduces costs as chemicals don’t need to be bought, labour can be used more effectively as it is much more efficient, water consumption is reduced as there is no need to rinse once sanitised and the lotus® PRO requires very little energy in order to work.

The Tersano’s lotus® PRO system ticks a huge number of environmental requirements and certainly seems to be the future of green cleaning.
