New-look UB magazine out now
The same great content with a fresh and clean design
The new-look University Business features the same great news, views and features on the latest and best HE topics, but with a more fresh, simple and clean design.
We’ve stripped back our look to focus more on content. And this edition of UB has more opinion, research and key features than ever before.
In this issue, we celebrate all things estates (p.35), and look at the key construction developments on the horizon at some UK institutions. We also hear how four universities have recently augmented their sporting offer – with immediate and eye-catching results (p.25). Our tech special this month is on the virtual learning environment (VLE) and how it has evolved to suit changing student needs (p.71.)
Our sector has, once again, been hitting the headlines in recent weeks. Earlier this month the Prime Minister launched her year-long review of student finance and university funding, calling for better value for students in England. But she has ruled out completely scrapping tuition fees. May said abolishing fees would push up taxes and mean limiting the number of university places.
She also said that students in England faced “one of the most expensive systems of university tuition in the world” and “the level of fees charged do not relate to the cost or quality of the course”.
In the next issue of UB, we will discuss the latest developments with fees and loans, and the likely impact of the PM’s funding review. To be involved please get in touch, we’d love to hear and share your views.
Once again, we are proud to partner with ASRA, the Association of Residential Student Accommodation. Our ASRA 2018 conference preview supplement provides a sneak peek at what’s coming up at this year’s conference. Come say hi to us at the event in Birmingham 25-28th March.
