New Dean for Bath Spa’™s education school

Dr Kate Reynolds brings her experience to Bath Spa University as she is appointed Dean of the School of Education

As a seasoned practitioner with a record of strategic leadership, change management and advisory roles across central government, local government and business networks, Dr Reynolds has detailed knowledge and understanding of policy and legislation across the education sector.

Dr Reynolds said: “The School of Education at Bath Spa University is already well known as the largest and best provider of education in the South West. Joining the University at this time means I can play a part in ensuring the School becomes internationally recognised for its teacher training as well as its academic insight and authority. I want to build on the success already created, confirm the University’s place in the education arena and meet the future needs of employers in the education sector.” 

Prior to her appointment, Dr Reynolds’ was chief executive of Learning Plus UK, and held a number of strategic leadership positions in the private sector. Dr Reynolds’ last position in local government was as deputy director of education for Swindon Council as part of a ministerial appointed team.

Dr Reynolds will lead the School of nearly 100 staff and over 500 students which focuses on education studies, initial teacher training and continuous professional development of education professionals. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, the School offers a variety of teacher education including PGCE, Teach First, School Direct and Troops to Teachers.
