Looking ahead to the Cubo Awards 2018
The CUBO awards showcase a range of services dedicated to delivering an excellent student experience, from catering and housing to marketing and sport
Now in its seventh year, the CUBO Awards has undergone a revamp. CUBO has reviewed and updated its award categories to reflect shifts in the trends and popular initiatives at UK universities.
With a growing number of entries in some categories, for 2018, CUBO has added a new award and amended some of the criteria in other categories. This is designed to better reflect popular subject matter and expressions of interest from different areas of commercial business in higher education.
– A new award: ‘Best Residence Life Initiative’ to reflect the growing number of initiatives in this area.
– Business Manager of the Year is now Business Manager or Team of the Year. This category has broadened to allow managers to enter their whole team.
– The Best Catering Service award has changed to ‘Innovation in Catering’ to include the wider range of food-related initiatives.
– A new independent judging panel will vote for the winners, following shortlisting by the CUBO awards panel.
We are delighted as ever to open the awards entry period for 2018 and look forward to receiving your submissions. We hope that the above changes will encourage more of you to show off the work being done at your institution. What better way to recognise and reward your team.
Chair of the Awards Panel Gillian Almond said: “The changes this year bring an increased focus on innovation excellence, giving an amazing opportunity to recognise those teams who are bringing forward ideas that are transforming the student experience.”
The CUBO Awards are open to all higher education institutions. Membership of CUBO is not a prerequisite, CUBO actively encourages entries from all UK Universities. Businesses working with HE institutions are also invited to enter the Business Partner of the Year Award. The awards have helped to raise the profile of both winners and entrants among key stakeholders, including Vice-Chancellors and university governing bodies.
The CUBO Awards ceremony will take place at Manchester Metropolitan University on Wednesday 27th June 2018. The Awards ceremony and gala dinner take place as part of the three-day annual CUBO Summer Conference.
Entrants should read the full CUBO Awards entry criteria for each category and also read ‘How to enter’ at www.cubo.org.uk. The closing date for entries is Thursday 1st March 2018.
