Forth Valley College win UK Young Restaurant Competition

A team of students from Forth Valley College have won the coveted title of UK Young Restaurant Team of the Year 2016

The students who cooked and served their way to the title were Laura Carswell, Marcus Rawding and Nicole Grey. The team was mentored by college lecturer Martin Luti.

The team were announced the winners at the Skills for Chefs Conference Dinner in Sheffield on Thursday 7 July.

The final also included teams from East Kent College, Leeds City College, Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) and Hastings Hotels in Northern Ireland.

Each team had to cook and serve a three course dinner for four guests and a team of industry judges. The theme was around the world in 80 minutes and guests enjoyed a glass of Laurent Perrier Champagne before being served a starter that featured Wild Atlantic Prawns, a main course with Dingley Dell Pork and a dessert showcasing Casa Luker Chocolate from MSK ingredients,.

The competition headline sponsor was MSK Ingredients who are now taking the team on a gastronomic trip to Barcelona, Spain.
