Covid-19: Italy set to close all schools and universities
All schools and universities across the country will be closed from Thursday until mid-March due to coronavirus
Italy is reported to be temporarily shutting all schools and universities across the country in an attempt to avoid further spread of Covid-19.
Italy has the largest cluster of coronavirus cases in Europe, with 2,263 confirmed cases and 79 deceased at time of writing.
According to Italian news agency Ansa, all Italian schools and universities will be closed from Thursday until at least mid-March. The move comes after schools and universities in the northern regions – which are the most heavily affected by the epidemic – were closed 10 days ago.
Italian prime minister Giuseppe Conte reportedly agreed the closures during a cabinet meeting.
