Growing technology services provider relaunch will focus on business, student and residential market

CableCom Networking Group, has announced its rebrand to Glide. The move will cement the company’s strategic repositioning and focus on providing infrastructure, connectivity, utilities and innovative technology services to three key areas of the growing PropTech market: business, student and residential.

In the last year, Glide has seen growth of over 25% to move the business over £50 million annual revenue which has allowed continued substantial investment into its own fibre infrastructure. The company expects this growth to increase to 30% year on year and has made provisions to deploy an additional 500km of full fibre over the next 12-18 months.

The newly named Glide Group, comprises of three existing specialist companies:

  • CableCom: The dominant ISP/ PropTech provider serving the student and growing built-to-rent market.
  • Glide: The specialist utility provider which splits broadband, electricity and gas usage per household.
  • WarwickNet: Bought by the group in January 2017, WarwickNet specialises in liberating poorly connected business, Industrial and science parks.

Under the new structure, the move sees the streamlining of the group into three key areas: Glide Residential, Glide Student and Glide Business. By combining the expertise and capability of the three businesses, Glide will concentrate on driving each of its markets forward by adding new services and products to solve industry problems that were previously too difficult to tackle.

By investing in our national infrastructure we’re keeping at the cutting edge of technological innovation

Glide Residential: Boosting the Build to Rent Economy with Smart Fibre Infrastructure (SFI)

Focusing on the growing Build to Rent market, Glide’s Smart Fibre Infrastructure gives private rented sector (PRS) property developers a faster and simpler way to cable their building with seamless full fibre network. This takes up significantly less space, reduces operational costs and truly enables smart buildings of the future. Glide is focused on anticipating the demands of the sector to enable building managers to provide next generation living for a modern society.

Glide Student: Using network intelligence to give students the learning and living environments they deserve

Combining the power of StudentCom and Glide, the company now serves a combined 300k+ students across the UK and mainland Europe with superfast broadband and student focused utilities. With unrivalled intelligence into the online behaviour of students, Glide will roll out its Home Network across halls of residence from September 2018 to allow seamless Wi-Fi connectivity with multiple devices. Additionally, Glide Group is developing IoT solutions to give landlords, and students alike, unrivalled insight into how utilities function across the building, eliminating waste and reducing running costs.

Glide Business: Gigabit-ready businesses across the UK

Glide’s business arm has built its national reputation as an alternative fibre optic based broadband network provider (including FTTC, FTTP and Leased Lines) to UK business parks, industrial estates and multi-tenancy buildings. To date it has deployed over 1,400Km of its own fibre network with over 400 parks enabled and over 50,000 premises passed. The company recently surpassed expectations of the DCMS gigabit voucher scheme by confirming 67% of vouchers in the pilot region of Coventry and Warwickshire, worth up to £3,000 each for local businesses.

Tim Pilcher, CEO at Glide said: “This is a significant step for Glide which proudly says to our customers we are specialists in your business and understand what you need to grow. We have an ever-increasing set of capability and fibre footprint which runs alongside a desire to make our customers lives easier. By investing in our national infrastructure we’re keeping at the cutting edge of technological innovation. Whether it allows customers to enable smart multi-tenancy premises or future proof their business infrastructure, this is only the beginning and we’re really excited about where we’re heading.”
