Bishop Grosseteste welcomes new Executive Dean
Professor Scott Fleming is taking up the post of Executive Dean Research, Knowledge Exchange and External Engagement
Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU) are “delighted” to welcome Professor Scott Fleming as he begins his role as Executive Dean Research, Knowledge Exchange and External Engagement.
The immediate focus of the new role will be on growing BGU’s research capability and capacity, and steering the development of BGU’s Lincolnshire Open Research and Innovation Centre (LORIC).
On starting at BGU, Professor Fleming said: “I’m delighted to have joined BGU, and I’ve been made to feel very welcome. There’s a programme of exciting work to progress, and the new base for LORIC at St Hugh’s on Newport will be a splendid environment when it opens later this year for some of our partnerships with businesses in the county, as well as being a home for our postgraduate research students.”
BGU Vice Chancellor, the Reverend Canon Professor Peter Neil, expressed the University’s excitement at bringing Professor Fleming on board: “I am delighted to welcome Professor Fleming to BGU. Scott brings with him an international profile and substantial experience in the areas of sport and leisure, together with leadership experience within the HE sector. He has a broad portfolio incorporating research, knowledge exchange and external engagement and I am very much looking forward to taking us forward in these areas.”
Professor Fleming is a highly experienced academic who is recognised for his development and leadership of research governance and knowledge exchange at Cardiff Met over a number of years. His personal research interest is primarily in the sociology of sport and leisure and, in addition to his own track record of publication, he brings a wealth of experience in cross-university researcher training, staff development and support for Graduate Studies.
