With its new £9.7m building now fully open, Staffordshire University Academy wanted an easy way to communicate information to students, staff and visitors who are constantly on the move.

The university invested in the help of Beabloo Digital Signage, a cloud-based content management tool that allows higher educational institutions to create customised content and deploy it seamlessly and consistently across multiple digital platforms, including digital signage, mobile applications, social media and websites.

Beabloo software enables users to manage multiple campaigns rapidly across all displays in their network. The solution has allowed the university to enhance its communication with students on the school campus and their participation.

Small form factor Beabloo media players, powered by Intel Core processor technology, and content management software were installed. A strategically-placed network of screens next to lifts, in stairwells, corridors, the canteen and the reception area, ensures that important messages reach each and every student as they move around the new Academy.

“By far the most impressive part of Beabloo’s signage solution has been the video wall,” explained Michael Shillam, Network Manager at Staffordshire University Academy. The video wall comprises of nine 46” super-narrow bezel screens from Philips MMD that can display Full HD content on each screen or across the whole wall. This technology is very new and Staffordshire University is one of the first education campuses to install a full 4K video wall.

Shillam continued: “With its placement in the reception area, as soon as visitors walk through the doors they are greeted with the high-quality display. Many visitors have commented on the impression it makes. It’s been a powerful tool for inspiring students, who gain great satisfaction from seeing their work showcased to the entire Academy.”

The university had a rapid deployment of a 13-screen signage solution from Beabloo and a nine screen 3 x 3 video wall with everything being installed and ready to go in little over two weeks.

Beabloo’s web interface is easy to use, making it a quick and painless task to update displays. This can be done at any time and from anywhere, making the solution very versatile. Future developments within the campus over the next three months will see the addition of IPTV – the ability to transmit live TV streaming through the Beabloo digital signage software.
