5 new appointments at Glion

As part of its expansion of postgraduate degrees, Glion appoints new leaders

Following the successful launch this year of the dual MBA and MSc in International Hospitality Business, offered in partnership with Grenoble Ecole de Management, Glion Institute of Higher Education has announced its new portfolio of master’s degrees available across campuses in the UK and Switzerland. This is led by long-standing and newly-appointed faculty members and industry leaders in their respective fields:

Dr Martin Senior, Senior Lecturer and Director of Graduate Studies

Martin has been teaching management and marketing for over 20 years, lecturing at undergraduate and graduate levels. He holds a BSc in Catering Administration, an MA in E-Learning and a PhD in Services Marketing. Prior to teaching, Martin began his career in hospitality, working in hotels, restaurants and bars. Martin is an external examiner for two UK universities, an accreditation panel member for the Institute of Hospitality, and a subject matter expert for the Chartered Management Institute.

Dr Nicoletta Giusti, Clinical Professor and Director of the MSc in Luxury Management and Guest Experience

Nicoletta is an academic with more than 20 years of research and teaching experience in the fields of luxury, fashion and design, from the Bachelor level to MBA, in several business schools and universities in Europe. She comes from a family business in luxury menswear founded in 1887 and has a wide range of professional and entrepreneurial contacts in the luxury and fashion industry. She has worked as a consultant for several fashion firms and is Professor Ambassador for the Program LVMH INSIDE 2018.

Marie-France Derderian, Senior Lecturer and Director of the MSc in Hospitality, Entrepreneurship and Innovation

For 16 years, Marie-France was Director of different master programmes at Grenoble Ecole de Management, teaching graduate courses on entrepreneurship and innovation in Grenoble, Marrakesh and Berlin. She brings extensive international experience as a trainer and consultant in business strategy and development.

Dr Christine Demen Meier, Clinical Professor in Entrepreneurship

Christine worked for more than 20 years in the hospitality industry, creating and managing several hotels and restaurants in Geneva and Montreux. She boasts large consulting experience in hospitality and restaurant management for many companies in Switzerland, Côte d’Ivoire, Turkey and Ukraine. As Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Strategic management of SMEs at Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), Christine created the first EHL Research Chair in 2011 and headed the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Department. In September 2018, she joined Glion to take up a new challenge.

Jonathan Humphries, Senior Lecturer, Head of International Hotel Development and Finance

Jonathan boasts over 20 years of experience in hotels, consulting and development. He is chairman of HoCoSo, a consulting company focusing on creating new hotel concepts. Jonathan previously created education courses in hotel planning, development, investment and asset management for Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, Beijing Hospitality Institute and the University of Zurich.
