CUBO, the College and University Business Officers, has formed a strategic partnership with UHS (University Hospitality Seminars), a provider of bespoke training courses for the university hospitality sector
The partnership will ensure that courses, seminars and conferences are designed to meet the needs of CUBO members, and at the same time they will be able to access preferential rates when making bookings.
The partnership is one of a number of strategic developments being undertaken by CUBO. At their summer conference in June, CUBO members voted unanimously to accept the outcome of a recent strategic review. Over the next year CUBO will transition to a limited company and undergo an organisational restructure, alongside the development of the new working relationship with UHS.
Emma Furnival, CUBO Chair, said: “I am delighted that UHS has agreed to partner with CUBO and take the lead in providing high-quality training and development for our members. The partnership is a natural fit for our organisations.”
UHS is a limited company belonging to academic institutions in the United Kingdom. It provides courses that are specific to the needs of the university hospitality sector, providing them at best value on a not-for-profit basis. It responds to demands for training and professional development courses arising from the sector.
UHS’s seminars are for middle and senior managers responsible for student accommodation, catering and conferencing in the higher education sector. The seminars take place in universities throughout the country and are continually monitored and improved in response to delegate feedback.
David McKown, Director of UHS and CUBO Executive member, commented: “UHS have been reviewing its business strategy for some 18 months and we are very excited to be aligned to CUBO in this way.”
Joining with CUBO is a seamless development for UHS who mirror the same core business areas of residential, catering, retail and conferencing. Many CUBO members already benefit from attending UHS courses. In line with the UHS commitment to offer best value training, the partnership builds on this commitment by reducing costs further and making high-quality training more accessible for all CUBO member institutions.
The pending organisational changes within CUBO are designed to place the association in the best possible position to support its members into the future.
The partnership with UHS will help to support CUBO members with their continuing professional development through the provision of high-quality training courses.
