The third UCISA Spotlight on Digital Capabilities event will be held on 24 and 25 May 2017 at Southampton Solent University in The Spark - a stunning new teaching and learning building aimed at encouraging creative, interactive and flexible ways of learning.

The theme of the Conference is Student futures and will explore the many ways we help prepare students for a digital future from a student, staff and institutional perspective. There will be opportunities to hear from students themselves, as well as presentations from across and outside the HE sector.

Presenters from a range of institutions will be showcase examples of good practice in staff/student partnerships, digital champions and mentoring, digital diversity and belonging, and developing an effective digital curriculum.

The Teaching Excellence Framework is now challenging all universities and we will explore the role digital capabilities can play in teaching excellence.

We are pleased to once again have contributions from Jisc colleagues. Martin Hamilton will take a look into what the future might hold for students, and Lawrie Phipps will remind delegates that people are as important as the digital tools we are all now using so much.

There will also be an opportunity to hear about the findings of the 2017 Digital Capabilities Survey and how the digital capabilities picture across the UCISA community has changed since the initial 2014 Survey.

We have taken on board feedback from last year’s event and will be run parallel sessions on the first day, allowing longer interactive workshops and an opportunity to select topics of most relevance to delegates’ roles and interests.

This event will be of particular interest to those involved in supporting and promoting digital skills development, such as IT trainers, learning technologists, library and IT staff and educational developers.  The previous events in 2015 and 2016 sold out so early booking is advised.  We look forward to seeing you next May!
