Emotional Intelligence in Potential Leaders

Take part in a University of Westminster research study on emotional intelligence

Posted by Rebecca Paddick | January 26, 2016 | Research

This research is being conducted by Eren Behget as part of a BSc (Hons) Psychology degree course at the University of Westminster.

It is being supervised by Chantal Gautier and Boris Altemeyer in the Psychology Department and it has been approved by the University/Departmental Ethics Committee.

You are being invited to take part in a research study on emotional intelligence, which involves looking at several variables, which may indicate what could contribute to an emotionally intelligent leadership style. Research suggests that emotional intelligence in the workplace is considered desirable as it is associated with positive leadership qualities.

The overall aim of the research is to look at variables and devise a framework of emotional intelligence in leaders, in order to help us understand what makes an emotional leader and how to make the most of the related qualities.

You will be asked to complete 4 short computerised questionnaires, which will ask you to answer questions covering areas such as emotional intelligence, self-esteem, self-compassion, and humility. Following this, you will then be asked to do a short computerised emotional recognition test. You will also be asked to provide some demographic data.

The whole procedure should take around 25 minutes to completeEnsure you have access to headphones or you are in a quiet area and your computer speakers are switched on before you start the first assessment.
